This contract involved the demolition of an existing building and the construction
of a new community centre with parking facilities for 12 vehicles and also creating
a pedestrian access from the road which runs along side the site’s northern boundary.
The site of the community centre lies within the town’s development boundary but
is also within a Landscape Conservation Area and Heritage Coast. The new community
centre extends to 370 square metres in floor space and includes a hallway, kitchen
three activity rooms, male, female and disabled toilet facilities and a boiler room.
The walls were rendered with smooth clay and with rough clay render and stone panels
pointed with clay mortar. Solar panels were installed on the building’s roof.
